Happy Thursday!!!

So, just to get it out of the way, did anyone else have a small heart attack watching AI last night?? Good job producers.

Ummmm, life is good. I watched Casino Royale last night... I have to admit, I didn't love it. This is weird because I am normally a huge Bond fan. I'd probably watch it again, but not on purpose.

Life is also quiet. I do get to go to Logan and hang out with my mom tomorrow afternoon though, so that's fun for me.

Like a broken record

So, last night I finally saw "The Holiday." Chick flick extraordinaire. I know the review is late, but if you haven’t seen it, see it. Maybe I just needed a little happily ever after… maybe I just needed the accents ;-) Regardless, it was a cute – yes cute – show.

Ok then, onto the part where I start to sound like the real judges. I hate that my vocabulary appears to be limited to the same number of words as Randy, but, well… not enough to try harder.

Chris: Better than the original, but that doesn’t mean much from me… I really DON’T love Eric Clapton

Melinda: Well, I DO love Faith Hill…but that is beside the point. It was fabulous. I can not wait to buy this woman's album.

Blake: Safe, pretty.

Lakisha: Hmmm…I didn’t like it. Song or performance. She's lost her appeal for me. If she really ever had it.

Phil: He obviously loved this song. It got better as it went along.

Jordin: There were actually a few pitch issues, but we’re in a forgiving mood.

Red Beans and Rice

Life is quiet when your roommate leaves town for the weekend. I made it a point to be totally useful this weekend. I've been needing to store my Christmas decorations since....mmm... about the first of January. Yeah, not to mention the storage shed is like 50 yards from my front door - if that. I just haven't gotten around to it. I also finally went to the DI, I've had the pile on my bedroom floor for about the same amount of time. I also got almost all my errands run. And, even though it is the only day I am able to get anything done, I am pretty sure it's better that there are not more Saturdays. For it is also the most expensive day of the week. Ok, so maybe that part is my fault. ;)

Ummm... I'm trying to find something interesting to say, but I just don't think I have it in me tonight. It's been pretty quiet, which is why I haven't really been here much. I'm spending all kinds of time on line, just not much time blogging.

Now you know.

And you know what that means

Life in general is good. I went with James and Heather down to the new Mr & Mrs Lewie’s for dinner. I am officially the 5th wheel. I don’t actually care, and we had a lovely time, I just needed to make the official announcement.

Phil – Actually very good tonight. Maybe it was the elliptical being in the way of the TV, but I really did enjoy it.

Jordin – Not bad so much, but I didn’t love it as much as the judges did. It’s a little weird because I normally like her more than that.

Sanjaya – I give up. Once again, a perfectly lovely song, ruined.

Lakisha – Fire your stylist…and probably the first time this year I did not enjoy her performance, at all.

Chris – between him and the fiddle…it’s a tough call which was worst. And the head bobbing is back…

Melinda – I don’t know that I have ever heard that song before, but it doesn’t matter. It was fun. Once again, amazing. I can not “sing” her praises enough.

Blake – It made about as much sense as U2 singing Tim McGraw. Not a good mash up.

One step at a time

What a good weekend. Friday Monica and I went to a couple of parties. Nothing too exciting, but good friends are always fun. Saturday I got to see my grandparents, I spent some quality time cleaning my room AND I found a fabulous new bedspread. Maybe it will inspire me to actually do some interior decorating. We also tried to book John's flights for this summer. Which we later found out was not such a successful venture. Sunday was church and a fabulous afternoon of napping. Seriously, I love morning church if for no other reason than afternoon naps. Church is good whenever it happens, but followed by a nap, my retention rate goes up ten fold :)

TODAY, John successfully booked his flights. SUPER YAY!!! I also heard from the insurance company. I am finally going to get this stupid kitchen repaired. I spent my evening getting my butt kicked at checkers and reversi... Never Fear, revenge is a dish best served cold ;)

Sushi

So, Monica has been trying to get me to try sushi for a while now, and a couple of weeks ago she did indeed succeed, but only with some pretty tame, all cooked up rolls... Today we took my friend Jeremy to lunch. He is moving to Cincinnati for his new job this weekend. We went for sushi. So... today, not knowing any better, I tried my first raw fish sushi. And, you know, it was much different than I expected. The texture was definitely different than what I thought it would be, in a very good way. It's not slimy at all, except the eel, a little.

OK... that's all I have to report today... stay tuned until next time ;)

And then there were 8

Melinda – I missed her… sadly

Lakisha – fun, but once again, I was distracted.

Chris – better than last week

Haley – White girls can not sing that song. And once again, your singing ability does not increase when the length of your skirt decreases… someone should make sure she got the memo

Phil – I am not sure what to say, except that there were NO goose pimples

Jordin – Not my favorite Jordin night. She looked great – now I sound like Paula – but I think it was song choice for me tonight. I don’t like it. Vocally, it was alright.

Blake – Better Blake this week. I think his rhythm, while not displayed as such, helped a lot with this genre.

Sanjaya – Another song that I love turned torture device. Someone might also want to remind him that not only should your belt and shoes match, but your hair and eyebrows should at least be in the same family.
So there was actually a lot of stuff that went on in the past week, but I just haven't felt like writing about it... anyway... I got home about 2 in the morning on Thursday, woke up at 9 and drove to Bear Lake. I spent the weekend busy. We gave Shahna a wedding shower. She made a haul. I'll never feel popular again. There were over 70 people there.

Today is Easter. I love Easter. I woke up to a light spring rain. It made it even more perfect. After the rain, the sun came out and it was the epitome of a spring day. We had family up for lunch and then I drove back to Salt Lake. Here I am and here I will be for a while.

Well, at least until I get to go back to Dingle for Shahna's wedding. I have a month ;)
Blake – Not my favorite of his performances. The song is mellow enough; he took it and covered it in marshmallows

Phil – He actually sounded a lot like Tony Bennett… take that for whatever you want

Melinda – I liked the change up in her look tonight. She had so much fun tonight, besides that, have I mentioned she is AMAZING?!

Chris – I kind of liked it. I wouldn’t buy a CD of it, but it was ok.

Jordin – Now that, I would buy a CD of.

Gina – The song is in my top 10 favorites ever. I did not particularly love her version of it. It got better at the end, but overall it left me wanting.

Sanjaya – there are only two things worse than looking at Sanjaya. One is looking at Sanjaya with scruff. The other is listening to him sing. I don’t know who started the vote for the worst campaign, but I am fully in favor of the producers fixing the results to kick him off.

Haley – bleh

Lakisha – This really is her element. I must admit I had a hard time paying attention to her singing…
