Preparing the fields

I had a very happy weekend. My mom and Shahna got here just before noon on Friday. I took half the day off and we went shopping. Not just any shopping - Wedding Dress Shopping :) I had gone one time previously, but it is not very fun to try on gorgeous dresses and not have anyone tell you that you look like a princess - So basically I made them go with me :P
We went to one store and tried on about a half dozen dresses. All of them were lovely, one of them I fell in love with. Unfortunately, all of them are strapless. For those of you who know me - you know that doesn't so much work. They can fill in almost any dress to make it have sleeves, but it takes 8 weeks + alteration time +12 weeks to order the dress in (not in that order), and almost doubles the cost of the dress. Again, for those of you who know me - you know I am pretty darn budget conscious. So.... we went to Provo and tried dresses on there. We actually went back to the store I had been to previously. They still had the dress I had been pining over. It had to be ordered in my size, so still the 12 week wait, but once it gets here, there should be very minor alterations. :D
YAY!!!!!!!!!! :D I have picked and ordered my wedding dress :D
(Pictures do exist, but to avoid any superstitions – are not being posted. If you want to see, email me ;))
The one down side is that it made reality hit that the dress will be here at Christmas time, and that any wedding will have to take place after that…reality bites.
The rest of the weekend was great, too. Mom and Shahna and I spent Saturday at the mall – doing normal shopping – and then went to the General Relief Society Conference. If you missed it, it’s worth a listen. (www.lds.org) Sunday was church, my visitors went home and then I spent the rest of the afternoon chillin with John… ah the wonders of webcam.
To explain the subject line of this post – here is the story.
A story is told of 2 farmers. Both are praying for rain. Only one actually goes out and prepares his fields to receive the rain. Which of them do you think trusts God?
I am praying, and I have gone through a period of not doing much preparing. I am committing to doing a better job.
